Three waterfalls

I seek to provide a compassionate presence and a sacred space for my clients. It is my hope that this grounding will help guide and facilitate an experience of wholeness and authenticity, whether that is access to a stillpoint of calm or a sense of one's own beauty. As I work with people, I experience an ever-present sense of awe at the spectrum of manifestations of the pulse of life. This pulse, this rhythmicity, is a moment-to-moment testament of our ability to transform and evolve: it is evidence of the life of the spirit. ~ Carolyn Ricey Clapp

In practice since 1984, Carolyn Ricey Clapp is a licensed massage therapist (NC-LMBT #6240), esthetician and physician assistant. With a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, she has worked as a physician assistant in practices dedicated to integrative medicine as well as to osteopathic manual medicine. In her search to investigate life's persistent questions and to address people in their wholeness, she has studied many forms of massage and manual therapy, spa therapies, and aromatherapy. Ricey is certified in Lymph Drainage/Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy (Chikly Method), Zero Balancing, the Dr. Hauschka method of holistic skin care and Bach Flower Essence Consultation. Her experience as a medical professional, as well as an independent holistic practitioner, has enabled her to bridge the best of conventional and complementary approaches to healthcare.

In addition to maintaining a practice in Asheville, North Carolina, Ricey maintains a part-time practice in manual therapy and integrative bodywork at Crossings: A Center for the Healing Traditions in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Ricey is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association, Bach Foundation Practitioner Registry, National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, and the Zero Balancing Association. She is certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.
